Ribolla Gialla 'Col de Bliss' La Tunella 2024
"Col de Bliss" by La Tunella is a pure Ribolla Gialla typical of Friuli characterized by lively and intense accents, thanks to a long aging in barrels. On the nose, it is animated by exotic and citrus notes, with passion fruit, pineapple, grapefruit, and ginger, interspersed with mineral puffs. On the palate, it is fresh and savory, well-balanced and persistent.
The Ribolla Gialla “Col de Bliss” by La Tunella is a true hymn to the territory. This grape is particularly emblematic of Friuli, and the winery decides to provide an elegant and important interpretation thanks to the wood processing. The nose is enveloped by a dense and soft cloud of aromas, while the palate is surrounded by a smooth sip, where a mineral undertone is present. A bottle with a territorial breath, demonstrating how the varietal lends itself to more structured versions.
The “Col de Bliss” La Tunella originates from vineyards where the vines grow using the short Friulian monocapovolto system. The manual harvest takes place during the third week of September, when the grapes reach the right degree of ripeness. As soon as the bunches arrive at the winery, a cryomaceration lasting 36 hours is carried out, followed by a soft pressing. The must then undergoes a cold static decantation and is subsequently added with a fermentation starter previously prepared with the best selected grapes. The fermentation is slow, at controlled temperature and with frequent bâtonnage, in oak wood. The final aging lasts a total of 15 months and takes place in barrels of oak with a capacity of 30 hectoliters.
The “Col de Bliss” Ribolla Gialla asserts itself in the glass with a concentrated straw yellow color, possessing good intensity. The opening on the nose plays on various references to tropical fruit, enriched during the evolution of the analysis by vanilla touches and sensations that recall almond. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with a fresh and lively, round sip, characterized by a savory soul that lingers even in the finish. A classic Friulian white, interpreted by La Tunella with considerable depth.
