From our sommeliers

The Amarone from the Musella winery is a full-bodied and intense expression of Valpolicella: a rich and complex wine aged in large barrels and concrete tanks. An aromatic range of sour cherries, ripe red fruit, and sweet spices integrates harmoniously into an elegant and structured sip.

The Amarone from the Musella winery is a powerful and structured red wine produced from vines trained on trellises on the gentle hills of Valpolicella, in the north-east area of Verona. The winery, which has been following biodynamic philosophy for years, is trying to enhance the territorial potential by seeking purity in taste and also making bold choices by deciding not to always follow the trends dictated by the market. Amarone is produced with Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes, coming from three different vineyards: the Perlar and the Palazzina, whose soils are calcareous with a prevalence of iron-rich red clay, and the Monte del Drago, which is characterized by having a more medium-textured clayey and tuffaceous soil.

After the harvest, which takes place towards the end of September to obtain grapes with a higher concentration of sugars, the bunches are collected in boxes and placed to dry in a ventilated room. Thanks to this method, the grapes lose more than 35% of water, further concentrating the sugars present inside them. By February, the soft pressing of the grapes occurs, and the winemaking process begins.winemaking with a low-temperature fermentation followed by a long maceration that allows for maximum extraction of the fruit. At this point, the wine matures in French oak tonneaux and large barrels for a period of 12 months, after which it is bottled and remains in bottle aging for an additional 8 months before being released on the market.

The Amarone della Valpolicella from Musella presents itself with an intense garnet red color. On the nose, there are hints of ripe red fruit, sour cherry, fig, sweet spices such as cinnamon and chocolate, with subtle notes of green pepper. On the palate, it is rich and enveloping, full-bodied, and with a well-present acidity, although somewhat masked by the high alcohol content. The finish is long, with pleasant aromas of sour cherry and molasses. This label from the Musella winery is an Amarone made like it used to be, a synthesis of power, elegance, warmth, and roundness.
